Querida Via,
I’m 24 and I feel stuck
First off, I’ve been following you since around 2020/2021 and I’ve admired your growth so much. Watching you evolve, especially as a Dominican woman building such an intentional and successful life, has been incredibly inspiring to me.
I’m 24 and I’ve been feeling a bit stuck lately. I didn’t take the traditional university path, but I want to now and sometimes I struggle with the feeling that I’m behind or not fully aligned with my potential. I’m at a point where I really want to build a meaningful, successful life not just financially, but personally. The challenge is that I’m interested in many things, yet don’t feel deeply anchored to one clear passion.
If you could speak to your 24-year-old self, especially during a phase of uncertainty or stagnation, what would you tell her? How did you begin finding direction before you had clarity?
I would truly appreciate any perspective you’re willing to share.
Querida Amiga,
Thank you so much for writing in and for supporting my work and growth all these years. I think it is so important to start by saying that I started posting content at 27 years old (2020/21) after completely starting my life over at 26. Around the time most people on the internet “met me,” I had already refined so much of myself and started taking action around the things I didn’t like about myself or my life. In fact, I’d venture to say that if many of you knew me when I was your age, you would not like me very much.
So, all of this to say, you are at the perfect age to start carving out a new life. The fact that you are at this standstill is proof that you are on the cusp of something new and something good.
Here’s some good advice I wish I heard at 24:
You don’t have to know what you want to do, but you do have to define your values. You can go online and complete a values finding exercise (I did the To Be Magnetic one). Values help you learn about yourself. You will see through a series of questions just who you are and what you care about, broken into one word. For example, 3 of my 5 core values include: Discipline, Bravery, and Community Healing. This was so good to see written out because it felt like the underlying throughline behind all the things I already gravitated towards- that is the anchor you are looking for.
Then, as many times as possible and in every area of your life, LIVE YOUR VALUES. What does it look like in your daily decisions? What does someone who embodies these values do, eat, say, etc? That, my friend, is how you curate a good life.
What will then start to happen is that you will become aligned with opportunities and people who are living similar values to you. When you walk with purpose, the path will appear- I say this with absolute certainty.
And if you fall off track by accepting experiences not aligned with what you set out for yourself, it’s ok in fact, it’s completely normal. Just keep choosing yourself and starting over as many times for ever and ever.
You will be so good, so soon, it is so possible to start over and change fundamental aspects of your life! You will look back and be grateful for this moment because it set your life in motion!
I can’t wait to hear what comes of it!
Con Cariño,
Via
